Health security plan implemented by Nice Côte d'Azur airport

Pleasant Côte d'Azur airport has introduced several health and safety initiatives in a move to protect both passengers and staff during COVID-19, including a robot that emits ultra-violet light to remove viruses.

All the measures deployed in the airport infrastructure follow the recommendations of the various health authorities (the French Council for Public Health and the Ministry of Health) in active preparation for the gradual resumption of air traffic and form part of the work underway with industry organizations (ACI Europe and the UAF union of French airports).

"Dominique Thillaud, Chairman of the Board of Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur, said In our worldwide review of the available choices, our highest priority has been to define best practices in order to provide our passengers, our staff and anyone who works in our facilities with the healthiest possible conditions.

The group has switched to an automated robot which emits ultra-violet virucidal light. After successful airport tests, the robot should be treated with shock therapy that kills almost 100% of the bacteria and viruses present in the air and on treated surfaces.

Besides this in addition to the regular cleaning workers, disinfection agents will be used. These agents, dressed in special clothes for the treatment of viruses, can operate with special virucidal surface disinfectants that have been in use since COVID-19 emerged.

Along the passenger route in the airport, hand sanitiser dispensers have been installed and all toilet facilities are now fitted with air and surface purifiers. A special and proprietary technology based on ultra-violet radiation purification is used in the device. Terminal ventilation networks will be upgraded with high-performance indoor air filtration: by replacing the F7-type filter models with F9-type filters, the existing air treatment efficiency will be improved by 50 percent.

Special markings have also been installed by Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to ensure that social distance is respected when checking in, boarding and retrieving baggage. Made-to-measure Plexiglass partitions have been developed by the airport's technical departments to secure airport personnel while continuing to assist and educate passengers.

For passengers who may carry their own masks or obtain one inside the terminal, wearing masks will be compulsory. Masks will also have to be worn by Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur staff who come into contact with passengers.
